Rites
2019 | Short Film | Drama
When a father takes his only son to get his first haircut on his fifth birthday, a cherished rites-of-passage goes horribly wrong. Starring Stephen Hill (from Netflix’s Maniac & CBS’ Magnum, P.I.), Rites is adapted from a short story from the book “Like Loving Backward” by writer and producer Cheo Tyehimba. It’s a mesmerizing tale of lost innocence and supernatural power for the times we live in. Shot on location in Brooklyn, NY, Rites is dedicated to the life of Eric Garner, who was killed by a New York City police officer the same weekend of production.
Now streaming, Rites is debuting as a multi-platform short digital film. It was previously unreleased but enjoyed theatrical screenings at several film festivals across the country, including the NewFilmmakers LA, American Black Film Festival, and the San Francisco Black Film Festival. It was also a featured episode on MovieMaker’s Stage 5 Showcase.
The short is the first in a series of new titles from Game Changers Films to be available on Amazon and other platforms. Look for the following new titles to be released in Spring 2019: The Circle and  School Days. Updates will be posted at www.GameChangersFilms.com
